On Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June, team Ironbridge travelled to Peterborough City Rowing Club to compete at the Peterborough Spring Regatta. This multi lane 1000m event offers 4 lanes of racing for crews with Senior and Junior racing and the Saturday and Masters, Senior and Junior Racing on the Sunday. This year due to exams we just took our Senior and Masters Squads to race.
On Saturday we saw our Women Masters Quad racing in Women Quad Sculls Band 1 against crews a good 20 years younger than them (Their words not ours!!). Racing over the course they finished in a great time but sadly didn’t make the final. However they placed 9th out of 16 Women Quads overall on the Saturday which is a great performance for their first time at a multi lane event!
Also racing Saturday was our Women Coxed Four of Holly, Lou, Sam and Georgia who finished 1st in their heat before going on to take the Bronze place in the final! A fantastic performance from the Women Master and Senior squad!

Sunday saw the weather change with stormy weather and rain, a marked change from the calmer winds of Saturday. On Sunday our Women were joined by our Master B Single Sculler Pav in his very first single sculls race, also debuting were our Women Pair of Jenny and Holly! Both crew performed amazingly for their very first races and put in great times in tough conditions!
Our Women Coxed Four crew for Sunday was made up of Jenny, Holly, Sam and H who were pipped to the final spot by University College London is a close heat going 4 seconds faster than the winning time the day before. Well done on a great performance!

It was our Women Masters Quad turn to compete in a final after beating local club Peterborough to take the second place in their heat before going on to take the Bronze place in the final. Overall they were the second fastest Women Master C Quad of the day. Well done to Chantalle, Liz, Sandra and Sarah!
What a brilliant weekend of racing as we now get ready for Bridgnorth Regatta and British Masters Championships on the same day! Go IronbridgeRow!
